Very likely, the Birth taag for the son is not marked as Primary.
Highlight the Birth tag on the son's Person View and (if there is no
asterisk (*) shown in the nsrrow column between the Type and Date columns)
click on the asterisk (*) icon on the left of the Tag Box.
