Yes. I would probably select the Manuscript (Unfilmed) Source Category (or
one of the filmed selections).

No, they would be entered as City (or County) Directory Source Category.

I think I would select the Bible Record Source Category for this and modify
it as needed.

Are these obituaries? I think I would use the Obituary/Newspaper Item
selection. Since you indicate that these are from LDS film, then I would
add the additional information identifying the film as well. See E. S.
Mills' "EVIDENCE!", p. 83, and the Mills Templates page of my website (URL
below) that also refers to this.

Most don't have authors, and therefore the usual Source Categories for this
don't include the author source element. Depending on the actual source,
you might select Baptismal Record, Cemetery Marker (various), Church
Minute, Marriage Record (Church - various), or other Source Categories.
The Marriage Record (Church - Original Record) Source Category is probably
the one that I would choose (with some reservations) for church Records.
For cemetery records, I may also choose the same category or possibly one
of the Cemetery Marker categories with modifications.
As for suppressing the "unknown" author or whatever in any Template or
Pattern, you would surround the Source Element with angle brackets (<>).
For example, the Bibliographic Template/Pattern of the Book (Authored)
Source Category is:
"[AUTHOR]. [ITAL:][TITLE][:ITAL]. [PUBLISHER ADDRESS]: [PUBLISHER]<,
[PUBLISH DATE]>." If you did not know the author, you could prevent
"unknow author" from printing by changing the Pattern to:
<[AUTHOR]. >[ITAL:][TITLE][:ITAL]. [PUBLISHER ADDRESS]: [PUBLISHER]<,
[PUBLISH DATE]>.
Note the placement of the angles around the author Source Element.
I am assuming in all this that you are using the Mills Source Categories.
If you are using the Lackey categories, get back with us as they are
somewhat different although they are similar.
Hope this helps -
