The first time in one listing that a source is referenced the FULL FOOTNOTE
is used, after this the SHORT FOOTNOTE is used (not the abbreviation, which
I think is for use in TMG, not output).

Thus you get:
History of the Blow family, J Blow, 1927, p56
and after that
History of the Blow family, p56

If you go to the MasterSourceList, select a source and go to the OUTPUT FORM
tab you can see the footnote structures by clicking on the appropriate
button. You might get:

FullFN = [TITLE]<, [AUTHOR]><, [DATE]><, [CD]>
ShortFN = [TITLE]<, [CD]>

You can edit the short footnote to what you fancy, possibly the same as the
Full footnote.
