When TMG imports sources from anothr program, there is little way for it to
know what is in the source information. Thus TMG creates a Source Record
with basically two parts to it. The entire citation is placed in the Title
field (Source Element) of the Source Definition. A shorter (truncated)
version is entered as the Abbreviation of that Source. The Abbreviation is
only used within TMG (or for some _work_ reports) for your use in finding a
Source record.
In reports, TMG will print citations either as Full Footnotes or as Short
Footnotes (we won't discuss Bibliographic entries here). Short Footnotes
are used as the second (& later) printings of the same citation when the
"ibid" entry is not useful. By default, the Templates for most Short
Footnotes uses the Short Title Source Element rather than the Title Source
Element. If you have entered a Short Title, TMG will use it. If you have
not entered a Short Title, TMG will use a truncated version of the Title.
In a Source Definition Screen, select the Output Forms tab. By clicking on
the Full Footnote, Short Footnote, or Bibliography buttons, you may see the
Patterns for that Source Definition. You may modify any Pattern as
desired. Visit my website (URL below) to see information about the Source
Templates/Patterns on my TMG Tips & Helps page.

Can you be more specific on this?
>(1) On the Person display is it possible to get lifespan dates (in

No. You might request that Tech Support for a future version.
>(2) Is it possible to include the REFN field in boxes on the descendancy

In the Report Definition Screen of the Descendancy Chart, select the
Options 2 tab and select the desired option under the TMG Identifiers section.
Hope this helps -
