This is essentially the TMG Descendants Indented Chart report. The
difference is that TMG prints the report in indented form based on the
generation making it somewhat easier to read. As to why it is used, you
answered the question. It is very dense which allows the report to be
printed on normal paper. While the Descendancy Indented Narrative and
Descendancy Journal Narrative report are much easier to read, they both
take many pages while the Descendants Indented Chart would take fewer
pages. The report above and the Descendants Indented Chart report could be
considered a "condensed" Descendants Box Chart. When you don't want a
large chart, you may get essentially the same thing on a few pages -- which
would require rather intense viewing compared to a box chart. However, the
box chart would take up an entire wall while the Descendants Indented Chart
report would take a lot less space.

The choice is yours - some like it while others don't use it.
