The "strangely worded" aspect may be due to the
fact it was to be read in the context of the
previous message to which I was responding (or to
frustration at the time).
The point of the message was my difficulties in
dealing with a FTM vers.7 file. TMG vers.4 did not
import it directly nor could the FTM vers.4. that
I owned deal with it. I then purchased the FTM
vers.7. But TMG 4 doesn't seem to hand FTM vers.7
so I exported the FTM file as a GEDCOM 5.5 and
then imported that file into TMG. Cumbersome and
time-consuming but it seems to have worked.
Thank you for your interest.

p.s. does anyone out there have a simplier
solution?
