Be sure that you are in 'Page Layout' on the 'View' menu. It has been some
time since I have played with pictures inserted in Word Documents but you
should also check under 'tools', 'options', 'view' and UNCHECK the 'picture
placeholder' box. If this box is checked, the pictures are not
displayed. This option speeds up Word as it does not have to render the
picture on the graphics card. A real plus if you have a big document and a
lot of pictures!
