I am a little uncertain as to what you want to quote from your sources. If
the quote is only a few words, a sentence, or the like then I would include
it in the Citation Detail (CD). But if you plan to include a larger
quote, then I would suggest that you consider entering it as an Exhibit.
The CD is really designed for relatively small entries, i.e., volume, page
and/or line numbers, subject names, etc. Usually the entry is one that
would normally be part of the Source Definition except that if it were
included there, the number of Sources would dramatically increase. For
example, a certain Marriage Register book or volume might be cited for many
different marriages and would only need a single Source Definition if the
page numbers and the like are entered in the CD.

I would include quotes of information that are unusual or different. For
example, on my grandparent's marriage record, the witnesses were: "a church
full of people". That was definitely something that I wanted shown in the
citation and was entered in the CD.

The CD is unlimited. But no, the CD field may not be adjusted in size
although you may scroll up/down. While the field is unlimited in capacity,
it isn't expected that it will contain many large entries. The usual
expected entry will vary from a half-dozen characters (including spaces) to
something like a few dozen characters. But this doesn't mean that you
couldn't enter hundreds and thousands of characters. I just wouldn't want
to enter many.
