You have to be in a place you can type e.g. a memo; to use the character map.
When you click on a character notice the bottom right hand corner it says
keystroke. That's how you can use the code w/o accessing the character map.
Certain characters that I use alot I have memorized <g> If your going to use
the character map alot you can minimize it and it will stay on your task bar.

Also in the help menu is Special Characters. Which lists some. I've printed
this out for reference.
