As does Lee Hoffman, I am not sure what you want to do. What four
sources for a birth tag do you have, how do they differ in detail and
how can these same sources be used for more than one person?
I can see one source having the time as well as the date, one having the
hospital as well as the city.
I use sureties to tell me how much of the date or place comes from each
source: most complete is a 3 etc. Information such as time that does
not fit I put in the memo.

In your situation I would type the source verbatim into a text file
outside of TMG. Then I would copy and paste the bit of information you
want into the tag memo as I think it reads better there.
You would have in the memo: Source A ( name of source) says "C&P",
Source B Says "C&P" etc.
However if putting it in the CD works then do that.
More information may get you more and better suggestions.

Bob,
Thanks so much for answering my query! Let me try an outline my situation
hopefully in a clearer fashion than in my original letter. The first point I
should make is that my 95% of my research is obtained from the records
generated in Sweden and Finland. Therefore, the majority of my sources are
the church records of those countries. I like to include the language of the
original Birth/Baptism, Marriage and Death/Burial somewhere in my
documentation. This normally involves 1 to 3 sentences (there are always
exceptions to that however). My English interpretation of those records may
not always be correct or complete, therefore I want the original version
available in my documentation. In my experimenting with TMG I initial placed
this information in the memo field of the event tag in the fashion you gave
above: Source A ( name of source) says "C&P", Source B Says "C&P" etc. This
method is a possibility but would require me to repeat my source which seems
redundant and could also cause confusion as to which source I'm citing. If
there was only 1 source i.e. birth/baptism record from "such & such" parish
that might be okay but that is not always the case.
My non-original sources would include: Farm history books, biographies of
clergy, family histories of prominent tradesman etc. Each of these sources
would contain information on extended families not just one individual. In
these cases it would be nice to "enter" this information once (word
processing text or scanned image). Would these types of sources be best
handled as Exhibits? Can I connect hundreds of individual event tags to one
Exhibit?
In summary:
(1). I have literally thousands of entries of BMD records from the church
records of Sweden and Finland which I wish to quote and connect to the
source. The memo method would work but I'm not too happy with it. To enter
this info into the Citation Event Screen as Citation Detail for each
individual event tag seems to work nicely (although against the general
rules). Using this method, printouts include my original quotes into the
source information for each person. Another alternative would be to put this
info into an event tag Exhibit. This might work too but I can't seem to get
it to print out (back to reading the manual).
(2) Other sources include published histories that make reference to
extended family members. Would these sources be best handled as Exhibits?
Can I connect hundreds of individual event tags to one Exhibit? If so, how
do I do it??
I apologize for writing such a lengthy letter!! It takes me volumes to
express what most can do in a few words :-)) I am also emerging from the
dark ages (so to speak) into the modern era of genealogical computing. I
have used the various PAF programs for years (I won't say how many <g>) and
will be transferring about 8,000 individuals from PAF2.31 into TMG. Needless
to say, I have a lot to learn!! (I will probably be in my grave before I have
completed all of my editing ;-)) Any help that you can provide will be
greatly appreciated.
