Susanne,

I understand the desire to record the original text, especially if there is any
chance you might be misinterpreting the information. I assume you want to save the
original for your future review, and perhaps to share with another interested
researcher, but would not generally print them in any reports you make. In this
case, neither the tag memo nor the citation detail are good places for the
information, in my opinion, because of both the duplication involved and the
difficulty in excluding them from printing.

What I do is to use a custom tag -- I call mine "SourceNote". I enter the text in
the memo field, put the publication date as the date (because most of mine are
published books, and that date usually moves the tag after the death tag of the
person involved), and enter a citation to the source. If the text applies to more
that two people, I add the others as witnesses. (I'm thinking you would extract
the lines or paragraphs for each person or family in one such tag, and might have
many tags from the same source.)

However, I treat my "SourceNote" tags somewhat as side records. I still create a
Source Definition for each source, and cite that source on each tag where I use
it. If some sources for a given tag provide details (full or partial date, full or
partial place, etc.) not in the others, I mention in the CD of each what that
source shows. Others don't do that, and just use the presence or absence of an
entry in the surety field for that (but using sureties will not distinguish
between full or partial entries, nor identify spelling differences).

When printing a report, I go to the Options tab of the Report Definition screen
and under Tag Types, choose Selected. I then include or exclude the SourceNote
tags depending on the use of the report.

So this is one way you might consider.
