The test I use is whether I am including adequate proof to inform and
satisfy someone who may pick up my work in 50-100 years. While I have a
good deal of the type of personal information you describe, at some point I
won't be available to vouch for and elaborate on it. Unless I supply the
more conventional (and, yes, the process can be tedious) proofs, my
"knowledge" might reasonably be viewed as little more than fantasy.
