This was the traditional Scottish toast at New Year:
Lang may your lum reek, lang may you ha' jinglin' Geordies in your pooch and
a dottle in your pipe.
Translates as:
Long may your chimney smoke, long may you have lots of money in your pocket
and tobacco in your pipe.
Jingling Geordies = literally gold guineas, a dottle = a wad of tobacco
In other words, health, wealth and happiness.
