Subject: [TMG-L:] TMG-L: importing-merging records

I'm wanting to set up family trees on myfamily.com to allow other
family members to add their families into the tree.
My plan was to break up my TMG database into branches for "current"
families. For instance, take each of my 4 grandparents and set up a
tree for those 4 branches, say A, B, C, and D. Exporting to the GEDCOM
for this is easy enough. Then, for the few researchers in the family,
have another tree in each branch for tracking the ancestors.
But I want to import the changes periodically back into TMG. This
presents a couple of problems I haven't been able to figure out how to
handle:
1) All tags, sources, notes from TMG aren't available at the myfamily.com site. How do
I import these names back in without losing the extra tags that are in
TMG already?
2) Of course, many people overlap branches. So if changes are done in
each of the 4 branches, how do I import the "A" branch back into TMG without
losing the changes from the "B" branch?
I've thought of having several datasets, but then I wouldn't be able
to get complete reports for anyone.
I'm using TMG 1.2 for DOS, but will soon upgrade.
Thanks for any suggestions or ideas!
