Sure,
But that doesn't mean necessarily blood children. I know many genealogist
who research lines deligently, to pass on to their adopted children.
As a genealogist, I personally am concerned with the lineage of each person.
I don't really care if the parents were married. I have said before, that a
marriage is an event in a person's life, just like a census. I think most of
us would agree that we would not like to use a program that required a
marriage before we could add children. I am most concerned with who the
parents of child A are, and then the Parents of parents C and B are. I don't
believe in marrying people that chose to live together, although I will
assume a marriage if I don't have proof otherwise.
I know lots of people that have had children without the benefit of
wedlock. And I am sure that there are just as many of those in 1700 as there
are in 2000. Maybe because there was no one to marry them, or maybe because
they chose not to marry. Doesn't really matter, they are still the child's
parents.
On of the reason's I am looking forward to TMG is the accent feature which
will allow me to mark end of lines (people never had any children). This way
I know that the line ended and I need not look any further. As you state,
"it takes children to make an ancestry."
