Hi, Bud:
You expressed my experience EXACTLY. I tried GEDCOM a few times, and was fortunate (or wise -- nah <grin>) enough to have a full tape backup to resort to. Since then, I import GEDCOM into an earlier version of Family Origins, only because it segregates the data so nicely, then print out the reports I need and enter the data manually. Since I have a fairly good memory, except when I don't, I now have at least a chance of recalling each of the people I have added to my database, and maybe fitting seemingly disparate data together (EUREKA type insights).
