How do you obtain this GenBridge?

What about pictures in the FTM-file? - are they transferred? Or is it as the
name says - a kind of Gedcom?

I have some 600+ pictures!!

What about books and text items, are they converted too?

I moved from FTM to TMG a year and a half ago. No data was lost, but a few
things ended up in places other than where I'd put them. That's mostly because
of the limitations of FTM, resulting in no clear answer of where data from a
particular place ought to end up, aided by the flexibility of TMG which gives
the user lots of choices.

My suggestions -- First, experiment with a test data set to get a feel of how
you want to have various things appear in TMG. Then you'll know how you want the
import to work. Then experiment with the import options before doing much
editing to get the best possible import from your data. You will have to review
the sources imported, and then all the individuals to get everything the way you
really want it. If you find systematic changes are needed (like changing
surnames from all caps, or adding sort dates to undated marriages so they appear
after birth dates) John Cardinal's free utility can help.

Lee Hoffman's TMG Tips pages offer much more detail -- do look at them.

Of course for checking your old backups -- you don't need to go to all this
trouble. The data should all import, and if you are just checking a few items it
really doesn't matter if the items are not arranged as pretty as you want in
your regular data set.

decisions,
I'm sure you will like TMG. It offers lots of flexibility, Bob V. and team
listen to users, and each version just gets better.
