To: Everyone who uses my TMG Utility
A few weeks ago, I learned of a problem with my utility in the case of TMG
databases where the index order is not "ASCII". My hands are tied somewhat,
as the problem is caused by some third-party software I use to access the
database. When you try to open a TMG database whose indexes are sorted
according to the Dutch, Icelandic, etc., collating sequence, my utility
returns an error message and refuses to open the database.
I will contact the software supplier and see if they can help somehow. In
the meantime, if you want to use the utility you can re-index the files
using File>Maintenance>Re-Index>ASCII, and then use the program. My program
doesn't do anything that requires character data to be in a particular
sequence, so resorting should be OK. After you are done with the utility,
use TMG to re-index back to Norwegian/Danish or whatever sequence you are
currently using.
FYI: Users have reported that the utility works fine with "international"
characters such as Æ Ø Å, for example, in the re-capitalization functions.
