Marking a selected group of people is not a problem in TMG.
Use any filter you require on a LOP (List of People) report and use the
Set Flag option to affect a given value to a specified flag.
That way, you can not only mark the direct ascendants or decendants
of an individual, but e.g. mark all people having "Mary" in their names
AND who were born in Wisconsin between 1812 and 1856 AND were not married, etc.
