Subject: Re: [TMG] Picture files--how to name

Robby,
We had a discussion on the list last summer (I think) and the system I use
from that discussion is for use with TMG. Due to the restraints of Foxpro
limiting us to the 8 period file type I use the record/ID # from TMG but
preceed it with leading 0's so the file will be in numeric order. I use the
first 6 places for the number (I'm assuming that I won't ever get over
999,999 records <g> then an underline chacter then a number this will allow
me to number my exhibits for a person. And will allow for 1-9 of each type of
file text, jpg, tiff, etc. If I ever need more than 9 I would then use a-z.
So for person # 1456 text file I would call it 001456_1.txt.
I don't know if this system would work to use with other programs but perhaps
could be modified
The other suggestion that was given sometime within the last year. Was to
create a photo tag in TMG an enter the file name to add the picture from
within your wordprocessor. I really like this for when I get my new computer
with a CD-RW drive.
Hope this gives you some help. Everyone's needs are a litte different. The
beauty of TMG is that is adaptable to your needs

<< Any recommendations on naming of scanned picture files to make it easy to
use in TMG and other programs?
For instance should the subjects three names are used, or a numbering
system, or what to do for group pictures. I have just started scanning my
family pictures and quickly discovered that I need a file naming system
that will work, is flexible, and can grow for the thousands of pictures
that I will end up with.
