I have employed a very simple system to name my scanned image files.
I have a one letter prefix which briefly describes the content type and
splits them into four broad classes:
p for a solitary person
g for a group of people
v for a view
d for a scanned document
I have then started numbering for each type from 001
Thus the first photo with more than one person as subject is file name
g001.jpg and so on.
As Kathryn Bassett mentioned, I also make extensive use of
folders/directories but use mine to log which photo album the originals are
stored in.
In addition I also document each photo (formerly in UFT but now moving the
system to TMG) using it's file name as a reference number. In TMG each photo
record will be a History type tag, with those featured linked as witnesses,
plus a dummy person who is a witness to all photo tags to act as my complete
photo collection.
This system works for me.
Regards.
