I do it all the time on my network among four different computers. Just be
sure that drives are mapped properly (not just shared) such that the drives
on one computer are not designated the same on the other computer(s). For
example, suppose you have two hard drives on both computer and they are
designated C: and D:. That works fine for separate computers, but neither
can recognize two drives with the same designation. Thus drive C: and D:
on the laptop will become drives E: and F: respectively on the desktop, and
the same for the desktop's drive from the laptop.

One other consideration is that TMG may not recognize the system if the
path name is too long. Each directory/folder must be eight characters or
less. So you may need to browse to find the dataset which will
automatically use the shorter path name.
