Thanks, Lee, for the response. Based on your advice, I'm using the Text
Editor in TMG for my notes in the Memo field. I'm using Notepad first to
get rid of any MS Word formatting, as the TMG editor does not strip it all
out. Then I insert this text only into a text file that I refer in the
memo field of TMG.
Anyway, it is evident I'm not being clear in expressing my issue to you, so
I'd like to try a different way. Assume I like tagging etc. and the report
system in TMG (I look at your website example in the near future). I still
want to make notes on my research I've done for each individual, so I will
have a record and can go back at later dates to pick up where I left off or
can reread the material at a leter date and come up with new ideas. The
trouble I have with the memo field in TMG is that when I make notes for one
individual those notes show up for all the other people in my
database. For example, if in individual #1 I looked at the 1860 U.S.
Census and found nothing on him or her, I'd make a note of that in the memo
field for individual #1. Then, however, when I go to individual #43 to
take a look at his or her memo notes, I get the information I wrote about
individual #1 in the memo notes of individual #43. I want the memo notes
for #1 and #43 to be different. That's why I wanted separate files. As I
have said in a previous email, this is not an elegant solution to the
problem, and I'd appreciate any advice on how else I might accomplish this
goal.
Many thanks for your patience.
