Must depend on your color setting, my citation number box appears in blue
<g> ...

You can insert a source number or press F3 of ^F3
>and select the citation you want to use. Click on OK and the citation

This has already been pointed out in several messages...It appears to work
but doesn't, kinda misleading...

The method I was using until I "stumble" on what I thought was a shortcut
... I now stand corrected.
