The advice from both the Reference Manual (p.317) and TMG Help is to
use the ADDRESS tag for current mailing address
use the RESIDENCE tag for past addresses.
Since living people a) move and b) die, is there a way to change
an ADDRESS tag to a RESIDENCE tag with VERY FEW keystrokes?
This seemed possible when I brought up an existing ADDRESS tag entry screen,
clicked on the EVENT type button, and was presented with a tag type list
from which I could select a tag type. Unfortunately, the only tag type
options
that appeared were ADDRESS and STAKE.
What the ___ kind of a tag is STAKE?
Anyway I could select STAKE and all of the other fields in the tag remained
the
same so it seems like this should work...if I could get RESIDENCE to show
up on the tag type list.
In Ultimate Family Tree (UFT), I had the same issue with RESIDES and
RESIDED events. I could not change a RESIDES event into a RESIDED event
when people moved or died. So I ended up entering only RESIDED events.
Your thoughts on how to handle this will be most appreciated.
