The (?,?) is there to indicate that there is no spouse linked. For
instance, if you have an individual who was married a couple of times and
had several children, some by one wife, some by the other, and some by an
unknown wife (or perhaps out of wedlock), and you do not enter a spouse
record for the later, the family view shows (?,?) indicating that there is
no spouse entered.
