My TMG Utility program should be able to help you. It's donorware which is
similar to shareware; if you like the program, you can make a donation in
my name to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Jimmy Fund). It has a "Find
and Replace" feature that can be used to alter name fields. You have to be
careful to specify a "target" string that will not cause unintended
changes, but that not be a problem in this case.

Thank you. Thank you, John. Your utility worked fine. I tried twice before
I figured out I had to reindex the file. I couldn't figure out why the
surname list wouldn't show but one of the NN surnames at a time. of course
the given names were not the primary part of the sort so they were ok. Just
another "senior moment".
