Carol,
Bill Allen, who was also a UFTer, was one of the people who encouraged me to
write OTD, so OTD does have some UFT roots. I never used UFT, so I don't
really know how the "Family Events" calendar worked, but Bill sent me a
screen shot and described it to me.
It sounds like you discovered the "backs" (backgrounds) folder. Yes, you can
put your own JPG images in there. Feel free to delete the ones that are
there, but don't use the same naming pattern (backN.jpg) for your own; when
I update the program, I wouldn't want my images to replace yours. I have to
figure out a good way for users to supply background images so that they are
retained across program updates.
I don't know for certain why your pictures look huge--I don't have much
experience with JPG processing--but I have a guess. If your pictures were
scanned at 300 DPI, they will appear approximately 3x bigger than you expect
when loaded in my program, because the typical screen resolution is 100 DPI
or less. I'll try to determine if that is the problem, and if so, how to fix
it.
In the meantime, a good graphics program, such as Adobe PhotoShop, will let
you adjust the resolution. For the pictures I supplied, I used PhotoShop to
(a) change the resolution, (b) increase the brightness and (c) lower the
contrast. They appear a little blurry when loaded as the background image,
and I am still trying to determine why.
Regarding the Jimmy Fund, thanks for the offer, but, I'd prefer that people
wait until the next fund raising cycle to make donations in my name. I'll
get back to people starting in February.
I think you are wise to concentrate on learning TMG before you use my
utility program. Even so, you might want to breeze through the online help
files for my utility. Some of the features won't make sense, because
understanding them requires some knowledge of some advanced TMG features.
Others, though, are pretty straightforward, and if your data has a problem
that my utility can correct, you can make a mental note to use it later when
you are more fascile with TMG.

Good luck with TMG. This list is a great resource for newcomers--welcome
aboard.
