Thanks for taking the time to repost your composite/analysis source
idea; I missed it the first time around and enjoyed reading it. In this
particular case the question/problem with "John Brown", and his unknown
date of birth, arose more out of my desire to fully understand TMG's
sentence producing capabilities and limitations than anything else.
Since there are so many variations one can create later in the report,
it frustrated me that the possessive forms wouldn't work as expected in
the first sentence of the report.

And I also still can't figure out why if I type in a custom sentence for
his birth tag it doesn't print at all - the report starts with the
marriage sentence. The rest of my report prints as anticipated so I
don't think this is a problem related to any of my report settings,
though I have cked and recked them as well.
