This year I hope to scan and store on CDs my too-many-to-count family
pictures. I would love to know what program others have used to organize
their photographs. I'd like to be able to find a photograph easily to use
as
an external TMG exhibit, but would like to know how others have organized
their pictures and what software they use before I begin this mammoth task
of
the New Year.

Lillian,
I use PhotoDeluxe, simply because it came with the scanner. It is
incredibly easy to use, TMG takes the infomation very easy, and it is very
intuitive. I also like Thumbs+. I used it as a trial version, but it is
about $80. and I can't see spending that when the product I have works good.
I liked Thumbs+ because it made great thumbnails very easily. It just ready
your file structure. Like you, I am scanning in all of my family pictures.
I set up my file structure like this: C:/Pictures. Under c:/Pictures I have
a file folder for each major family name. Then under each family name, I
have a file folder for census and tombstones. So my tombstones, are under
C:/Pictures/Ghee/Tombstones/JohnGhee.jpg. Now if I go visit my aunt that is
also researching Ghee's, I can take my backup CD, and copy all
C:/Pictures/Ghee onto her harddrive, and she has all of my family pictures
quick and easy. At Christmas I gave my mother-in-law all her side of the
family, and it took less than 2 minutes.
