Subject: [TMG] Repeating Citations
Date: Mon, 01 Jan 2001 12:38:37 -0500
When entering a new person, I like to cite my source for the person and
the source for the relationship between the person and his/her mother
and father. So from the Person View, I click on the Subject button and
enter a citation. Also, from the Person View, I click on the Father
button and enter a citation and then the Mother button and enter the
citation as well. (I realize that I can do this once on the enter
person window, but that is not the point of my question.) No problem so
far, but sometimes I have more than one source for this information so I
have multiple citations for each.
Now the problem. When I run a Genealogy Report (Register) the citation
is shown multiple times. For example, if I have two citations for each
of the three buttons, the citation reference on the report might read
"John Smith, 21,23,21,23,21,23" (The six numbers should be
superscripts.) It would be preferrable that this just read "John Smith,
21,23".
I understand why it is happening. If there isn't some magic way of
compacting these numbers, I am willing to live with it in order to be
able to have a citation for each of these three instances. It is a
worthwhile (to me) tradeoff, but it would be nice to have the numbers
shown only once.
And yes, I checked both the v3.x and v4.x reference manuals and didn't
find this question addressed.
