We looked at these battery packs. The primary advantage is that they
are easier to change than the internal batteries. When doing a direct
power comparison,however, there is no "time" or "number of pictures"
advantage as the battery pack carries the same power ratings as a set
of four internal batteries for the camera. The disadvantage is the
$40-$50 price tag and I would still need four of them for a typical
shooting spree.
