Why does the [SUBJECT] entry in the full (surname, given names) and
short (surname only) footnotes not result in the same output?

While printing an individual narrative report for several family
members, I notice that the person's full name does not show in a short
form footnote. Report Definition Publication Tools Sources are:

Footnotes, Show excluded citations and Disable Ibid

My entry on the General source definition screen, subject block is:

Doster, Sanford Robert

My full footnote template (Custom default) is:

[SUBJECT] entry, [RECORD TYPE]< [NUMBER]><, [CD]>< ([DATE])>,
[REPOSITORY], [REPOSITORY ADDRESS].

resulting in:

Sanford Robert Doster entry, Delayed Certificate of Birth <, [CD]> (5
March 1916), Union County Courthouse, Registrar of Deeds, Union County
Courthouse, Monroe, Union Co., NC 28110.

My short footnote template (Custom default) is:

[SUBJECT] entry, [RECORD TYPE]< [NUMBER]><, [CD]>< ([DATE])>.

resulting in:

Doster entry, Delayed Certificate of Birth <, [CD]> (5 March 1916).

Source element groups from the Help file (see, I looked :) show the
following:

Subject

[Family Info]
[Household]
[Name of Person]
[Spouses" Names]
[Subject]
[Testator]

I tried substituting [Name of Person] for [Subject] in the short
footnote, but there was no change in the output.
