I ran into that as well. I was importing a very small GEDCOM, don't
remember whether it was one downloaded from FamilySearch or one that someone
had emailed me (i think it was the latter). It only had about 10
individuals, so I just manually fixed them in TMG.
I saw that some said it was the way the TITL field was handled. What should
be there, where should prefix & suffix be?

Subject: [TMG] TMG Version 4.0C GEDCOM Import Problem
Importance: High
I wonder if anyone has noticed this GEDCOM import problem:
1) I tried to import a GEDCOM 5.5 file into TMG V4.0C
2) My GEDCOM file has a number of PREFIX and/or SUFFIX abbreviations
such as Dr., Mrs., Jr., Sr. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, I, II, III etc.
3) I find that TMG has generated a LARGE NUMBER of NAME-VAR tags which
contain nothing but the PREFIX and/or SUFFIX abbreviations. This makes
it very hard to keep a CLEAN database.
Question:
1) Am I the only one that has run into this problem?
2) If not, is there someway that I can ask TMG to ignore the Dr., Mrs.,
Jr., Sr. etc. and NOT MAKE NAME-VAR tags for these prefix and/or suffix
abbreviations?
Any help will be greatly appreciated since I am REALLY NEW to TMG.
Thanks,
David
