Hi, Jan:

The list that "kept coming the whole time" must not be on RootsWeb, as all
of RW's servers were physically disconnected and moved, as I understand it.
(Believe it or not, there are genealogy mailing lists not on RootsWeb
<grin> - for example the best KNOWLTON list is hosted by a genetic research
corporation).

The issue of the excessive optimism over the time frame has been
"mentioned" on the LISTOWNERS-L mailing list. But all in all, even with all
the glitches, it has gone amazingly well IMHO. Archives, including TMG's,
do not appear to be up yet, and lists on the #5 server (also including TMG)
had the electronic version of constipation, but progress seems to be ongoing.

Patience. It's a good trait in genealogists.
