Hi Rick,
You are not the only one to ask but I will use your message to respond.
Lee and I have talked of grouping the files for easier download so options are
open. I have Acrobat Reader installed as a plugin to Netscape. When I select a
report from the Table of Contents and it opens, I have the option to save it to
file. It would take about as much time to download 50 files totaling 1.5 MB as
it would to download a single 1.5 MB file so I am not sure of the gain except
that one step is easier than 50 steps.
Let's kick it around on list so everyone can add their opinion and since it is
Lee's site he will have the final say. During construction I had the reports in
three different configurations but settled on single files as being the most
flexible. As errors are found, it is easy to correct one report and substitute
that report for the one with an error. If one has to upload or download 1.5 MB
for each change, that takes a lot of time. If the individual reports are
grouped in one file, it will take longer to load a specific report.
I may present arguments one way or another but only to make sure we end up with
what is best for the majority. I already have them on my hard drive and it
doesn't really matter to me. <G> Will most people want them for off-line use or
will most want to browse online? Or can the same data be accessed two ways?
I have the 49 reports and the Table of Contents in one folder. Can a folder be
posted to a web site in such a way that it can be selected for download with its
entire contents or browsed online as it is now? If that can be done, I think it
would work best for everyone.
