My great-grandfather had the unusual name of Alban Edgar Brunskill Davis.
Some time ago a Brunskill researcher contacted me hoping to find a link. My
great-grandfather had in fact been given the name of a clergyman, Joseph
Brunskill, who was boarding with my 2x great grandparents at the time. There
was no family relationship. But I helped the researcher with the limited
information I had on Joseph Brunskill.

Benefit 1: Two weeks ago the Brunskill researcher sent me the e-mail address
of someone else interested in Alban Edgar Brunskill Davis. She turned out to
be my 2nd cousin, a descendant of a branch which emigrated to NZ. Our
grandparents lost touch over 50 years ago.

Benefit 2: I wrote to say thank you to the Brunskill researcher & asked if
he had ever followed up Joseph Brunskill. Back came the information that he
had an excerpt from his diaries. This led me to the discovery that a book
about Joseph Brunskill & his diaries was published in 1995. I have the book
on order on inter-library loan & am hopeful that it will cover the period
when he boarded with my 2x great grandparents.

"Gerry's Law" has therefore proved doubly valid in my case.
