Living languages have been evolving for centuries. For instance, when
"Biblical Hebrew" was no longer spoken by the people (only Greek and
Aramaic) Biblical Hebrew was still the language of choice for the temple and
all others were thought to be inferior. The Septuagint, which was the Old
Testament written in Greek, was thought to be inferior. Today Hebrew
speaking people do not speak Biblical Hebrew, per se. It is close but not
quite. Language changes over time. Look at how many Protestant folks still
cling to the King James Version of the Bible. And yet few would be able to
read the KJV as written for King James. Languages change and people resist
change. Some devout Roman Catholics still seethe at the change from the
Latin mass. There is at least one parish in Missouri that still celebrates
mass in Latin for those that cling to the mass as it was celebrated in "the
good old days."
