In win NT and Win2K, use the subst.exe command. In Win2K, you can also
create symbolic links for directories.
I don't know if subst.exe is available in WIn98 or ME, or whether it works
reliably in those OS versions.

Subject: [TMG] Easy way to change exhibit drive letter?
Speaking of hundreds of photos. I have the same thing with my mother
who has hundreds of old family photos that I am scanning in. The
problem I have is I have two computers and they have different drive
letters for the cd reader. I have been looking for a way to change the
letter like you can for backups. In one of the setup screens you can
say for instance, use drive E: for backup, but I don't see anything for
in this case of the cd.
So what I am asking is there any place you can define
devices/directories so you can use a logical to point to it?
Example:
If all my exhibits will be on cds that will be in cd reader F: is there
someplace I can define say for example EXHIBIT_DRIVE = F: so if I get a
new computer or use a different one I can just change this logical
instead of having to go in by hand and change each exhibit
individually? (or make the change to windows...)???
This way my exhibit would have the pointer:
EXHIBIT_DRIVE:/photos/kaste/fred
vs
F:/photos/kaste/fred
thanks again,
dale
