It is really easy. Just click on FILE, IMPORT, GEDCOM. It will ask you
where the GEDCOM file currently resides on your disk. (You may have to use
the START, FIND, FILES and input the filename (or just *.ged) to find it.)
TMG will then ask you to name the NEW database. It will place it in
c:\tmgw\xxxxx.tmg (where xxxxx is the name of the new file -- it will
shorten whatever you put in to fit the field length it wants) Click on OK
and it will do it's magic. It will ask you if you want to look at the new
database now .. and it will open it for you.
As for the Wordperfect file, I don't think MSWorks will open it. You might
try to see if there is a Wordperfect Viewer program for people who do not
have Wordperfect. The full blown version of Word will open the file. They
do have a Viewer program, but I don't know if it will open WP.
Hope this helps.

:
: I need a step by step list of how to insert a large file. I've tried
New
: and the Import menu is grayed out. I've spent so many hours of
frustration
: trying to enter this info.
: I finally was able to get it into a PAF program (version 5 downloaded free
: off the web). There are over 5000 individuals. It was sent on a Zip
disk.
: There is a GEDCOM on it and also a Word Perfect file with pictures. I
only
: have MSWorks. It took about a hour to download the Wordperfect file and
then
: I couldn't read it (some sort of code).
: Please help. I can relate to the person complaining about the cost of
: this program and then not being able to really use it. I wish there were
a
: local class that I could take to learn how to use this program. I would
: gladly pay even more to learn how to utilize all its wonderful features.
