To anyone who is interested in exploring the use of roles ----
There has been some discussion the last few days regarding witnesses and
role sentences. There does seem to be some interest on the part of some
old and new users of TMG to further explore this new feature which was
added in 4.0a.
For my own purposes, I put together a TMG database file which uses roles
and role sentences for nine common tags (Adoption, Baptism, Birth, Burial,
Census1900, Christening, Death, Divorce and Marriage) for both principals
and witnesses. I hid all of the other tags which do not contain roles and
role sentences. I found it most informative as I entered a small database
of my family using roles and quickly gained a appreciation what this new
feature can do and evaluating potential problems.
From reading the questions and replies, I think that most of the
questioners would have been able to resolve the issue on their own if they
had a database which contains a few examples of tags with roles.
If you would like to a copy of this database (It only contains one person--
A dummy entry as all TMG databases must have at least one person.), please
send me a PRIVATE e-mail and request it. The file is approximately 30K in
size. I will also attach a PDF file with all of the tags, roles and role
sentences. This file is about 6K in size.
