Patricia:

When I first started .. since I am not good at reading manuals ... I created
a dataset with myself. Then I added every tag, flag possible for me ..
every time I moved, awards, religion, two baptisms, etc. I made sure I used
the witness by adding my children to the residencies, etc. I clicked on
every command, button, etc. and noted what it did.

I must say that I did not pay any attention to the sentence structures when
I input the data and now the I need to modify them as I put important data I
wanted to appear on the screen in DETAIL rather than Memo.

I would also look at Jim Cardinal's TMG Utilities as this will also give you
some insight to what it can do. NAME-MAR was always tricky for me but I
liked the way Jim's utility did it .. gave me both the married and maiden
name on the picklist and a way to differentiate if the name was a Miss or a
Mrs.

: I have a similar project I'm thinking of taking on. My solution will be to
: write a data entry/sourcing "manual" for them and have everyone get a copy
of
: PAF and input the data into that then send me a copy of the PAF file which
: I'll import into TMG. The files will be kept small so that I can easily
: monitor the input and "coach" them in style, etc.
