Nick, I can't think of a way of eliminating it specifically from just
the witness statements but you might play with these ideas:

1. If this source is specific to one will only (not generic to
be used on multiple wills) and you are not placing additional info
in the CD (such as an identifying page number) you could eliminate
the <[CD]> variable in the short footnote field (Source Definition
field/Output form tab).
This would cause the will to print the first time it is
cited, but not in subsequent citations. One downside might be that
the full will would appear on a witness citation and then not on
the source for the actual testator if the witness was older than
the testator and hence appeared first in the printed report.

2. or use the unique sources option on the publication tools
tab when you generate the report. This will cause the entire
source, including the will in the CD, to print the first time
it is cited. All subsequent citations to that source will
simply be assigned that same footnote number.
This means the footnotes do not appear sequentially
in the report, eg you could have a reference to the will on
the last page of your report but with a citation number of 2 or
3 if the will had been initially cited early in the report.
Also unique style endnotes export as simple text to
a word processor and so do not reformat automatically if
you make changes later in the word processor.
And.... if you use split citations they do not work
as expected (only CD 1 prints). WG is aware of this and hope-
fully it will be corrected in 5.0
Otherwise this is a great way to reduce repetitive
footnotes.

Like you, I tend to place info in the citation detail (exact
wording from a tombstone, exact wording from a marriage bond,
etc.). After playing with the witness feature quite a bit I am
finding more and more that I use it for research purposes where
I do not intend to print the witness sentence (eg to record a
neighbor on a deed, or a witness on a will), but if I want
maximum control on info I intend to print I often go back to
using separate tags (eg, a will tag for the testator, a widow(er)
tag, an heir tag, etc.). I have also made this decision because
sometimes it is confusing to see the memo field from P1's
tag appear in the witness's subject view.
