Subject: Re: [TMG] Improved Pedigree Charts
Date: Fri, 1 Jun 2001 16:13:09 EDT
Being more than a little unhappy with the format of the TMG "Pedigree Charts
(4 Gen)," I saved one to Word, then after MANY hours of work, have
approximated the "improved" one I had developed when I was using Family
Roots. I hope to "streamline" the procedure for the other 45 charts in my
line!
1: I "flipped" the No. 1 person's line and data so that it projects to the
RIGHT (rather than to the left) of the vertical line connecting to his/her
parents. This allows lengthening the lines for the parents and ancestors to
2 ½ inches and names no longer have to be truncated.
2: I have added horizontal "ticks" to the vertical lines connecting parents.
These indicate that there were older and/or younger siblings. A number
preceding the tick indicates the number of children. If the ancestor had both
older and younger sibs, there would be ticks both above and below his/her
line.
3: If any parent had a later marriage (with children), the horizontal line is
extended to the left with a vertical tick at the end. I "copy and paste" the
required "symbols" to provide the "ticks" from elsewhere in the chart. If the
other marriage was earlier, the tick would be to the right of the connecting
vertical line.
I have saved the finished product as an ".RTF" file and will be happy to
e-mail a copy, off-line, to anyone who has interest.
