I've got one foot in both camps.

I agree with "Don't release a software before its time!"

BUT-as many a marriage has broken down over the lack of communication, so
can an association with software.

I sure would have more patience if I knew what was going on. If once a
month, Bob would give us a status report, I'd be happy-well, maybe content.
Wouldn't care if Bob just said, "All our work on the module is lost. This
approach didn't work, and we're going to start over, and it's going to delay
us 3 months. A work flowchart on where the project is would be nice too.
