Many thanks to Terry Reigel, Diana Powell & Bob Gillis for their
thoughtful responses to my dilemma. I appreciate the trouble taken. In
the end, because I want will, codicil, probate and other long texts to
print in endnotes but do not want to be tied down to the option of
making all tag memo contents endnotes, I think I shall continue to use
the Citation Detail for this purpose.

After consideration of the ideas offered, I think that a separate text
tag is the best way forward, ie: Will_txt, Codicil_tx etc, followed by
the blanking out all principal and witness sentences to such a tag so
that they do not print out in the main narrative (after all the will tag
will already have served this informational purpose). By not providing
the text tag with any witnesses (the will tag will hold those), the
problem of witness statements re-printing the full text of a will no
longer arises. It is not too arduous to add text tags, albeit for a
wider range of topics than I had originally intended, ie: wills,
codicils, probates, deeds, marriage bonds, affidavits, letters, and so
on and the added control is well worth it.

Many thanks for your help folks
