Over the years I have tried many systems. But Sharon DeBartolo Carmack's
Organizing Your Family History also gave me a better grasp of my filing
system. I found this system is so easy to use.
Using a blue folder for each event I place a Table of Contents telling me
what is in that folder by my code number, date I received the document and a
brief description. I file my surnames by geographical area. Using a green
folder for the most USED ancestor of that surname I place a FGS. On the
front of that green folder I tape just the family structure. I am working
with several surnames. It works for me.
So by experimenting with many systems you will eventually find the right one
