Yes, both had drawn benefits. But my father's last check came two days
before he died, and I am the only person in the world who could know
that. I did not notify Social Security of his death, and there was no
living person who could have been eligible for a survivor's benefit.
Nevertheless, he is listed in the SSDI. My mother's last check arrived
thirty days after her death, and my father returned it.. Nevertheless,
she is not listed in the SSDI. Doesn't this suggest that perhaps the
system is less than perfect?
