Subject: [TMG] Comments on Writing the Book 3

I'm beggining to think that starting to write the book is a good, but humbling, exercise. I see now that I have made pretty much of a mess of entering my repositories and sources. Now I'm going through the sources one by one, modifying them until the reports look correct and filling in the missing bits of information. And yet, when I think back to my beginnings with TMG about 18 months ago, I don't know how I could have done better. Both TMG and its subject, genealogy, are far more complicated than I realized. I simply didn't know enough about how TMG works to do the job properly.
I have been in touch with local printers, who seem to be prepared to print from a CD-ROM at a fairly reasonable price. Ordinary letter-size paper is fine with them. I have also been to see a couple of bookbinders. Very good quality hard binding in buckrum costs about $25Can a copy, more if there are only a few. Another company which rebinds books for the local libraries charges $9.50Can a copy, but I have not seen examples of their work. Perfect Binding, such as you see in trade paperbacks, is only about $1.75, and there is a new lay-flat perfect binding coming into use now.
That's it for today.
