Cheryl,
I thought the same until yesterday but beware!
I am running Norton Antivirus 2001 & it checks all incoming e-mail.
Yesterday evening it allowed in a suspect e-mail with an attachment. I
decided to save the attachment to the Desktop & scan it before opening. As
soon as I clicked on Save, Norton popped up & warned me that the attachment
contained a virus, so I deleted it. Later I received another 3 copies of the
same e-mail. With each one, Norton's e-mail scan failed to pick up the virus
in the attachment on the way in.
On this subject, does anyone know of a way to virus scan an e-mail
attachment in the OE Inbox, without first having to save it to the Desktop?
